            Another JPCean made the cut!

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced the names of the new geodetic engineers last September 6 and placing 8th was a product of John Paul II College of Davao – Engr. Keith Ryan P. Tan.

Tan, who graduated in April as cum laude, proved that his intelligence can compete on a national level after he garnered an 82.80 percent rating. Noel Jerome Borlongan of UP Diliman topped the list with 86.60 percent rating.

Humbly he said he never expected to place in the national licensure exam. “Dili gyud ko katoo ba nga naka-tsamba pa 'ko sa pag top, wala ko kabalo unsa akong i-feel. Lami kayo mag ligid-ligid. Pero salamat gyud kaayo sa Diyos,” he narrated.

Others who passed the board exam were Anita Calonzo, Cristian Garbin, Jun Rey Lamata, Allan Niño Mojado, Jun Payot Jr. and Jay Ar Tarroza. A total of 14 took the test on September 3 and 4.

The school's performance was at 100% for the first timers and 22% for the repeaters, making the school one of the better performing schools in the country exceeding this year's national passing rate of 38 percent.

When asked further about his experience, the top placer shared “When you are going to take an exam there are three things to remember. First, kailangan ampo gyud mo, 'cause you’re not alone. Second, study as hard as you can kasi 3 months lang naman, pag-pumasa kayo sa board exam lifetime achievement n’yo na yan, so worth it talaga. And lastly, be friendly to the people around, because they can really help you.

Tan joined the roster of JPCeans who previously placed in the same examination: Engr. Joselito Lim, Jr. in 2012 (Top 3); Engr. Alfredo Gaborne, Jr. in 2007 (Top 1); and Engr. Pijie Piñero in 2005 (Top 4).
