New Champ: Blue Scorpions Rule Intramural 2014

Ruffell C. Ulep & Reggie L. Gonzales / JP Chronicles

How strong is the poison sting of a scorpion? It can annihilate even the terrifying, fast, and mighty creature in the wild, which is the tiger. That is what happened during the Intramural Games 2014 of St. John Paul II College of Davao, September 1 to 5.

The College of Teacher Education, also tagged as The Blue Scorpions, crawled their way to the top after garnering a total score of 1,665 points in this year's sports festivities. With strong determination and through unity, the future educators were able to block the laser-like focus of the Tangerine Tigers from achieving their “High-5” or 5th Overall Championship Title. As the deadly little creatures lord over the mighty cats, the Engineering Tigers settled at 2nd place with accumulated points of 1,605.

Trailing behind Engineering Tigers were last year's second placers, the Pink Panthers from the College of Hospitality Management, ending up 3rd with 1,518 points.  However, the Golden Lions from the College of Business Administration never lost their will to do better in this year's event. From 6th place last year, the Golden Lions made an astounding leap and ranked 4th by earning 1,380 total points. Meanwhile, the Lavender Firefox from the College of Information and Communications Technology remained 5th with 1,240 points.  Ending on the 6th slot were the Green Colts from the College of Nursing with 1,185 points, and on the last spot were the Black Hawks from the College of Criminal Justice Education who garnered 1,125 points.

Series of intensive games were played in the week-long celebration of the sports festivity which kept the students on their feet cheering for their respective teams. This year's intramural has just ended yet the crowd seems to be more excited about the next intramural games. Can the sting of the Blue Scorpions still intoxicate and rule over the other teams? Will the Tangerine Tigers be hungry for vengeance? Or, will there be a new team which will emerge victorious and leave the others slacked-jaw? NO ONE KNOWS! Indeed, the Intramural has always been an awaited season in SJPIICD – a test of unity, sportsmanship, determination, and competitiveness.
